Elvaston Castle Pre Wedding Shoot

Elvaston Castle Pre Wedding Shoot

After meeting up with Lauren and Dominic a while back to discuss their beautiful September wedding in September, I was excited to photograph them for the engagement/pre-wedding shoot. We chose Elvaston Castle grounds as the location as they are based in Nottingham and it was equal distance for both of us and an old stomping ground of mine! I knew both Lauren and Dominic were a little nervous having their photo taken so I wanted to keep it really relaxed, natural and comfortable!

How did you meet?

We met through our jobs. We both worked at a village pub – Dom was a chef there and Lauren a waitress. We worked together for about 2 years before anything romantic began!

Where was your first date and what did you do?

Our first proper date was a lunch date in West Bridgford. We sat in a pizza restaurant and chatted for about 4 hours just about everything! Before this we’d been on a couple of dog walks too 🙂

How did he propose?

Dom proposed when we were on holiday in Mexico. Apparently, he’d planned to do it in the January (we didn’t go till September!) so he did well to keep it a secret!

As it was hurricane season, the rain was torrential on this day so we spent the day in an amazing spa.

We had a massage and once they had finished that’s when he popped the question 🙂

What are your favourite things to do together?

Walking our dog

Holidays – visiting different places

Days out with friends / family

Hosting small get togethers / BBQs

Dining out trying different cuisines

Lazy Sundays – not doing much apart from eating a Sunday roast!

What made you choose your venue?

We looked at quite a few venues online, but only actually went to view 3. Lauren had been to a wedding fayre at Norwood a few weeks before and fell in love with it then. Norwood house is a beautiful stately home, and we love how traditional it is. We also love how much land Norwood has, it makes it feel more special and private. We like how there’s a big driveway before you get to the house. We want our wedding to be traditional and Norwood Park suits our preferences perfectly.

Any advice for couples planning their wedding?

-Be organised, but not too organised (there’s no need to book your florist 2 years in advance!)

-Keep an updated budget plan – write down everything you pay, deposits etc.

-Don’t get stressed – it’s a special time so you should enjoy planning your big day 🙂
